A four-door set for the 2013-2019 i30 covers four panes of glass: the two that drop into the front doors and the two that drop into the rear doors. It does not cover the small fixed quarter window behind each rear door in the C-pillar, and on a hatchback that is the omission worth knowing about first, because that pane sits at head height beside the back seat.
Covered
- Driver’s front door glass.
- Front passenger’s front door glass.
- Left rear door glass — the full aperture, including the part that narrows as it runs back towards the pillar.
- Right rear door glass, the mirror image of it.
Not covered
- The fixed quarter window in each C-pillar. Behind the rear door, level with a rear passenger’s shoulder and head. Four panels means four doors, and this pane is not a door.
- The windscreen. A separate item on any car, and not part of two front plus two rear.
- The tailgate glass. The hatch’s back window is body glass, not door glass.
Why that quarter pane is left out
A magnetic panel does not hold to glass. It holds to the painted steel of the door frame around the glass, which is why door windows are the easy case: a continuous edge on every side to locate against, and the panel travels with the door.
The quarter glass has no door frame. It is set into the body itself, behind the rear door’s trailing edge, so there is nothing there for a magnetic panel to grip and nothing to keep it aligned once the door swung open. That is a property of the car, not a gap in the set.
What you can reasonably do about it
Mostly: know it in advance, because the disappointment is a matter of expectation. The rear door pane is much the larger of the two and takes most of the sun reaching the back seat; the quarter window is a small triangle by comparison. Which side you seat a child on is the other lever you actually have, since the shaded side changes through the day.
The one thing not to conclude is that the set arrived incomplete. Four panels for four doors is what was cut, and it fits what it was cut for.
GD is not PD, and both answer to i30
The GD arrived in 2012, facelift included; the car that replaced it is the PD. Both answer to i30 and both were sold new here within a couple of years of each other, so the number to go by is the range printed on the listing — 2013-2019 here — matched against your own build year, not the model name.
